Explore Berlin: The Timelessly Elegant Charlottenburg

To the west of the heart of Berlin sits the district of Charlottenburg, blending royal elegance and modern culture. Defined by its graceful pre-war architecture and upscale boutiques, this area is a distinctly refined corner of the German capital. From the luxury of leafy Kurfürstendamm to the beauty of a baroque palace park, a day here is a journey through history, art, and culture in Berlin.

Your New View Starts Here

Start at C/O Berlin in the historic Amerika Haus, known for its bold contemporary photography exhibitions that reframe how you see the city. Until 28 January 2026, the exhibition Close Enough: Perspectives by Women Photographers of Magnum explores trust, power, and proximity between photographers and their subjects.

Then from 7 February to 10 June 2026, the C/O Berlin Talent Award winner Sheung Yiu presents (Inter)Faces of Predictions, connecting traditional East Asian face reading, Western physiognomy, and modern facial recognition.

A Landmark of Memory

Just moments away, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church tells a powerful, silent story. The preserved ruin of its original spire, damaged in an air raid during World War II, standing beside a modernist building of brilliant blue glass, it is a profound testament to memory and hope.

Visiting this winter? The Christmas Market at the Memorial Church runs between 24 November 2025 and 4 January 2026, with more than 100 stalls, festive lighting, and seasonal treats. It’s also one of the few Berlin Christmas markets that’s open into the New Year.

Shop, Stroll or Unwind

You’re now on Tauentzienstraße, Berlin’s bustling shopping area. A must-visit on the street is KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens), an eight-floor department store with a variety of luxurious styles, cosmetics and home goods. Widely cited as Europe’s second-largest department store, it’s ideal for retail therapy or soaking up a vibrant urban vibe and classic Ku’damm shopping.

Prefer something more laid-back? The Berlin Zoological Garden, also known as Zoo Berlin, is Germany’s oldest zoo and is one of the most species-rich in the world. It is a green, family-friendly retreat steps from the shopping hub.

The Baroque Treasure of Berlin

Head to the iconic Charlottenburg Palace, a Baroque masterpiece with beautiful gardens and a rich Prussian royal story. See exceptional art collections, impressive suites, and the magnificent apartments with luxurious interior décor.

From 24 November 2025 to 28 December 2025, the palace will be even more glorious with its annual Christmas market. With arts and crafts, gift ideas, and the scent of cinnamon and mulled wine all around you, it’s sure to make for a magical night in Berlin.
