City beaches
Amsterdam during summer is vibrant as always, but friendlier, happier, and beachier. Obviously when in Amsterdam, you can easily hop on the train and find yourself in Zandvoort aan Zee in just half an hour, but you don’t even have to go out of town! There’s plenty to go to for a refreshment and a sunny city break. To name a few: Pllek, Strandzuid, Kaap, Sloterpas (for swimming), and IJburg beach.
Cruise your way through Amsterdam
A boat tour is on the list any time of the year when visiting Amsterdam, but it’s a special something to find yourself on the city waters during sunny summer days. Ride a bike and stop for a local favourite ice cream
Sounds like music to your ears, doesn’t it? If you want to blend with the locals, there’s for sure no better way than to hop on a bike. Besides cycling through the entire city in just one day (yes, that is a possibility in Amsterdam), it’s also a breezy way of discovering the city on those hot days. And of course, a local favourite ice cream place such as IJscuypje and Massimo Gelato could not be missed as a stop.
Summer season means festival season
Do we need to say more? Throughout the city summer festival events take place basically every week. Music, food, people, attractions, and hopefully some sun, all together at one place. To name a few of the popular ones: Chin Chin Festival, Vunzige Deuntjes Festival, Milkshake Festival, Loveland Festival, STRAFWERK Festival, and Nomads Festival. Besides these hotspots, there are also family festivals such as De Parade, Trek, and Appelsap. Choose your preferred one and just loose it for a day.
