While Pula is a wonderful destination in its own right, it also makes the perfect base for exploring more of the Croatian coastline. Take a day out of your trip to discover charming towns, beautiful beaches and nature parks, all within easy reach.
Rovinj
35 km from Pula
Spend a day in Rovinj, a picturesque former island crowned by St Euphemia’s Church, whose bell tower is the tallest in Istria at 61 metres. But there’s more to this town than its skyline. Watch the fishermen return from sea in the morning, before visiting one of the numerous galleries, restaurants or cafes.
Labin
45 km from Pula
Step underneath Porta Sanfior and go back in time in Labin’s old town. With beautiful squares, colourful buildings and historic palaces, all connected by little cobbled streets, this town has a rich mining history that is still felt today. Visit the museum or join a mine tour to learn more about the lives of Labin’s miners.
Medulin

Once a small fishing village, this town has become one of the most popular in the region, and with good reason. Everybody can find something they’d like to do. Spend the day relaxing on one of the only sand beaches in Croatia or walk around the lively city centre and grab a drink on one of the many terraces.
Ližnjan
15 km from Pula
The perfect place for those wanting to escape the busy life for a day. Explore the 28km-long beaches or visit remains of historic Roman villas. Ližnjan has the right balance of peace and parties. Many festivities are organised each summer, including Ližnjan night, a traditional national party on 4 August.
Brijuni National Park & Fažana

A definite must-visit is Brijuni National Park. This archipelago of 14 islands is home to many interesting sights. Explore Roman ruins, see dinosaur footprints, visit one of the oldest olive trees in the Mediterranean Sea area and even remark at safari park animals that were once gifted to Josip Broz Tito by world leaders.
Don’t forget to stop in Fažana before heading back. Stroll around the centre, visit the church and, if you’re lucky enough to be there during Fešta od sardela (sardine festival), do not miss it. This lively festival is filled with fresh grilled sardines, live music and local wines.
