Celebrate Spring in the Netherlands

Spring is finally here and there is not a better time to start exploring the Netherlands! From the sunny weather, to it being the tulip season, there’s plenty of things to do in Holland – and if you’re looking for inspiration, that’s what we’re for!

Go and visit the tulips!

One of the best things to do in spring is to visit Keukenhof gardens – the world’s biggest flower exhibition. During this time of the year, the park is filled with famous tulips showing off their gorgeous colours. You will also get to see other spring flowers, such as daffodils and hyacinths. It’s absolutely beautiful seeing the Netherlands transformed into a vast sea of flowers. Definitely a must-see and perfect for your new Instagram post.

Go on a ride at an amusement park

Nothing can beat an amusement park with friends, or family on a sunny spring day. There are numerous exciting amusement parks in the Netherlands, from Holland’s astonishing miniature city “Madurodam” in The Hague – allowing you to learn about Dutch heritage and history, to the country’s very own Disneyland “Efteling” in Kaatsheuvel where fairy tales truly come to life. These amusement parks offers complete entertainment for the entire family – not only the little ones!

Head to a Dutch beach

Although it might come as a surprise, the Netherlands has an array of beautiful sandy beaches. At this time of year, the beaches (from Scheveningen to Zandvoort) are very lively as the beach clubs are starting to open again. Think Ibiza vibe but right here in the Netherlands. There’s nothing better than to hop from one beach club to another and spend your day with your loved ones in the sun! In some beach bars, you can even get surf lessons!

Go and see more windmills

When it comes to going on a peaceful walk and taking new Instagram pictures, going to see the iconic 18th century Dutch windmills is the perfect way to do just that. Two of the most popular places to go are Kinderdijk, or Zaanse Schans. Waterways, footpaths and bike trails crisscross the area, all leading to the main visitors center and museums in preserved working windmills!

Dance the night away at festivals

One thing we can confirm is that Dutch people sure knows how to party! When visiting the Netherlands, don’t forget to check out which festivals are happening. From music-related such as DGTL and No Art, to food-related such as the Amsterdam Coffee Festival, there’s without a doubt one for everyone! The best part is that these events are located all over the country, so there’s likely one near you!
